rock dove (born Lydia Barnes) is a seasoned musician with over 15 years of experience in songwriting, performing, and connecting with others through music.
Since her first piano recitals at age 10, Lydia has grown confident on stage. With performances in esteemed settings, including Hard Rock Cafe in Boston and Carnegie Hall, Lydia has made an impact in live venues around the greater New England area.
Lydia has gained recognition and mentorship from industry personnel such as Kara DioGuardi, an original judge on American Idol, as well as Andy Blackman-Hurwitz, former president of Ground UP Records.
Her passion and ability in music have been recognized in numerous competitions, landing her as a finalist in New England Sings, as well as the Pavoh Music Awards Songwriting Competition. Now, with her life’s worth of experience, a degree in Vocal Performance, and a heart full of music, she is an act to catch.
Today, Lydia Barnes records and performs under the stage name, rock dove. Her live set takes listeners back with covers of Pearl Jam, Blind Melon, and Amy Winehouse, along with an ear-catching mix of original music. In the studio, her sound combines organic, folk-inspired melodies with juxtaposed high production. Her debut album, Patience EP, is available on all streaming services.
